I could hear my heart beat as I ran through the town. Though it was the middle of the day, black menacing clouds loomed over the small groups of houses, leaving a terrifying sensation. Dogs barked as I passed before them, and I was glad of this sign of life, because there was no other clue which could make me think that there was another thing alive here.
